State Games

Yes I was a little surprise when I saw my name in the third position on Sunday. It helps that they don't have an open age group at the state game otherwise I probably would of came in 6th or lower. Now Brandon on the other hand made sure no one in Sport was going to beat him. He actually was hanging well with the experts. Next year for the state game' he'll find out what the experts are all about. I have a feeling he'll do just fine. Congrats again on GOLD.

As for the rest of the team Rick came in 6th with his single speed and it was also his first time on dirt. Not bad. Next race he can race with other SS guys instead of all the gear heads. Sean broke down on is last lap but he came in 2nd on Saturday at his TT. Congrats man. So three medals for team Flatwater. Not a bad weekend.

The race itself wasn't to bad at all. I had two crashes that cost me time. I came in 36 seconds behind 2nd. I keep thinking about my two wipe outs and how it might of made for a good finish if I could of stayed on my bike. Oh well it was a still a good day. It was fun to have most of the team racing. We had a good hour before the race started after our preride. We just all hung out and had a few laughs which help kept my mind off the race. I usually get a little nervous before the start so it was nice just to relax and not think about it for a change. I also change my preride up a little bit. Last year I usually did part of a lap so I didn't over do it. This year I was doing full laps about 30 min or less before the start. Really the main reason I did that was do to new trails I've never been on before like Ponca or that I haven't ridden for sometime like Platte. Both trail kicked my butt and putting in 5 miles before the start probably didn't help things out. For the state games I did maybe a mile of the course and then headed back to the tent. Not sure what I'm going to do at Tranquility. They did some changes to the course so it would be nice to ride the trail before race day.

Outside the biking world things are going well. Wife and kids are doing great and in about a month Payton starts kindergarten which I still can't believe. Hayden keeps growing and Trey is a little terror on two legs. Ok so he's not that bad. Work sucks but I guess you can't have everything go your way. As long as I have a job that's all I care right now.
