By the time we got to the track it was about 9. I went on a short spin of the trail with Harp and Millhouse. I didn't want to do to much so I wasn't tired come race time so I only road with the guys for about a mile or so just enough time to get my legs warmed up. Millhouse and I got to ride the trail on Thursday which was nice because some parts of the trail were tough and it was nice to have a feel of what to expect come race day. Will have to do the same with Manawa.
The Start: We started down a gravel road so we can fan out a bit before hitting the trail. Once we all got to the starting line I saw a lot of people in the beginners category. Usually we have a bunch so I expected 15 or 20 in our group, Instead it was only 10. So off we went, I started out a little slow, I should of tried sticking with Dan(which isn't easy) right away but I didn't and started in 5th entering the trail. After the first little section of trees I was able to get around Ray on the gravel road. Jason and Millhouse were to far to ahead to try catching them on the gravel. It didn't take long to catch up with Millhouse and Jason and I was all over Jason's wheel through the tree area. I felt little faster in that area so I was hoping to get around them in the open area but as soon as we got to that point they were gone. It wasn't till we hit the open hill section that I got around Millhouse and Jason.
Lap 2 started with Dan still in first, me in second , Jason in third and Millhouse in 4th. I thought the second lap went ok, I missed a turn in the evergreen section so i had to stop and turn around and I almost lost it in one turn but was able to save it. In the end it went Dan, me, Jason, and Millhouse in our category. Rob finished 10th in his big group of about 20 and Harp got 8th in Sport. Congrats guys.
I felt good after the race and Jackie said she had a good time so maybe she'll be coming to more in the future. I would like to bring the kids to but will have to see. Only two races left and thats it for the season. I wonder what cyclecross racing is like. :)
Here are a few pics from the race.

Good race as always man. If you want a shot at Dan you'll have to beat me into the singletrack because it seems like I'm always holding you back for about a half a lap while Dan is off riding free. I always feel like he's just playing with us...
I know we just need to worry about second place I guess. How was Mahoney after the race?
What's your day look like on Saturday?
Great race Ryan! You're like a machine out there on the trail. What an impressive first year racing.
Ride your own race guys, I'm not sure Dan should be in beginner class, and I know he really should be in my age group instead of open class.
You guys are too fast for me! I'm going to shoot for top last 3rd. Ok. last, but I'll do better!
I think something would work on Saturday.
