So today I finally got to ride some dirt. I went down to Wagon Train to check out some new trails. I would of like to ride BO or Platte but do to time and gas prices I decided to head south to a trail closer to work and home. I could of rode Wilderness which is on my way home but I wanted to ride something new. The course was not bad but it needs some help though, lots of big branches down and grass taking over the trails.
The first lap I did the whole trail, I think anyways. In some spots I ended up taking animal trails that would lead me to a dead end. The North end of the trail was a little rough because of the tall grass. There was a ditch crossing on that end to but since it was tough to get to that side I just saw that part once. For the rest of my laps I just stayed on the south side and went a few laps one way and then back the other way. I wasn't sure how many miles I did because my computer was out of wack for a bit. Too many weeds messed with the magnet on my wheel. I ended up riding for about an hour. I would have liked to gone longer but I needed to get going. As I was leaving they were setting up the lake area for the fire works show on Friday.
I was going to try making it to Branched Oak with Harp and Millhouse but it will be later before I can leave work. Maybe I can sneak out there for an early AM ride on Friday or I might just ride Wilderness. Hey its dry now so you have to take advantage of the trails while you can.
The Cornhusker State Games have the entries of who is racing this month. I think I counted 9 so far for my category. Can't wait it’s been to long.
Oh yeah I almost forgot about my title of this post. Since I got my new Stumpy I've been wipe out free. But I keep telling everyone knock on wood its going to happen someday. Well it did yesterday. I was on my last lap at Wagon Train and was trying to drink and ride at the same time. I figure it’s a good time to practice when I'm not in an actual race. Well as I was putting the bottle away I came around a turn to wide and nailed a 8" little tree stump (why it's not cut to the ground I have no Idea) and bang my bike stopped on a dime and I didn't, well I thought my bike stopped, as I was heading over my handle bars I hit the ground where I thought I was done (I know how did I have time to think about all this) but my bike decide to follow over me. I felt like I had clip less shoes on because my bike stayed with me the whole flight. Anyways I ended on my back and my bike fell a few feet ahead of me. No damage or marks on me, my bike looked good until I got home and saw that the back derailleur wire was hanging on one thread. So hopefully that’s an easy fix and hopefully it will be some time before I do that again. I know knock on wood.
